How Electricians Can Double Their Monthly Service Calls

As an electrician service calls are your lifeblood. When your calls are down, revenue and morale are down.

You’ve probably painstakingly tried the new hip marketing trends that promise you more service calls but to no avail.

Here is one way to double your monthly service calls. I’ve seen this work for my clients and, if implemented correctly will work for you.

The thing you have to remember is that these should be implemented together to see the best results.

Optimize Google Business Profile

The first place people see, outside of ads, when searching for home service businesses is the “map pack”.

This is where your Google Business Profile is.

If you appear in the top three businesses Google shows, you will start getting more monthly service calls.

Here is a great video going over optimizing your GBP

Website Optimization

Your GBP may be the place where you get the most service calls, but a part of getting your GBP in the top three is making sure your website is optimized.

GBP = Google Business Profile

Google will crawl your website that is linked to your GBP and determine if your service based on your website best fits the searcher’s need.

This means we have to optimize your website.

Here’s what your need on your website to help with your rankings

  1. Update title tag of the page to “Business Name – Google Business Profile Category + Location”
  2. Make sure your headers use your keywords for your service and make sure the headers are being used properly.
    1. Keywords are terms people use to search for your business / service. For example your GBP category is a great keyword to use. For their use common words people would use to search for your business in the headers of your web page.
  3. Add your hours, phone number, and address (if you show your address) to the footer of your website.
  4. Add an embed of your GBP map to your website
  5. Create individual service pages for each service you offer.
  6. Create individual service area pages for the areas you service.
  7. On the Homepage and Service area pages make sure you link to each of your services and each of your service area pages.
  8. On your service pages make sure you link to each of your service are pages.

Here is an example of what your website architecture should look like of you wrote it down.

Citations

Once you have your GBP optimized and your Website Optimized you need to start telling Google that you are a credible business and you are active.

Your GBP and website should be sending Google those signals, but you can still do more.

You will want to get something called citations to help Google out.

Citations are links from 3rd party websites to your website.

Think of Angie’s list.

List your business on those types of websites to help with your rankings.

Pro Tip: What helps out the most is getting local businesses to link to your website. This sends local signals to Google and that you are active in your community.

Local Service Ads

The last piece of this puzzle is to add some paid ads.

You may be thinking that this is a racket, and you’re right, it is.

However ads are what show up first in Google Search, if you can put your business there, more service calls will happen.

I would focus on a certain type of ad: LSAs.

LSAs are made for home service businesses and you only pay for them if people actually click on the ad and call you.

If it’s spam, you can dispute the lead in the dashboard and Google won’t charge you for the lead.

This will help you get some service calls while you are optimizing your GBP, website, and citations.

Here is the link to help get started with LSAs and at the bottom of the page there is a calculator to help you estimate your budget.
